Jaw Surgery (Orthognathic)
In Fort Worth, Arlington and Weatherford, corrective jaw surgery (orthognathic surgery) is provided by Oral Surgeons Drs. John Stella, Mike Warner and Mike Zide. Corrective jaw surgery is surgery performed on the bones of the upper or lower jaws to change their positions. Orthognathic surgery treats and corrects abnormalities of the facial bones, specifically the jaws and teeth. These abnormalities may be a result of genetics or an accident. Often these abnormalities cause difficulty associated with chewing, talking, sleeping and other routine activities. Orthognathic surgery corrects these problems and in concert with orthodontic treatment, will improve the overall symmetry and appearance of the face.
Using the latest in digital imaging technology, Drs. Stella, Warner and Zide will demonstrate the overall function and aesthetic benefits of orthognathic surgery. Computerized treatment planning minimizes treatment times, recovery periods and the accuracy of your surgery. State-of-the-art materials such as titanium plates and bio-materials provide stability, strength and predictability to your treatment. These advances in technology, procedures and equipment reduce post-surgical recovery time, thus allowing patients to return to their normal routines quickly.
Drs. Stella, Warner and Zide have authored numerous peer-reviewed articles and textbook chapters on the subjects of orthognathic surgery and facial aesthetics via jaw correction. Dr. Zide has more than 30 years experience, and Drs. Stella and Warner have more than 20 years experience performing orthognathic surgeries. All three surgeons teach orthognathic surgery to the oral and maxillofacial surgery residents in the University of Texas Health Science Center Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery located at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas.
